[full-time] Import/Logistics Manager Needed At A manufacturing company

Location: LagosDescription:A world Class Manufacturing Company with a modern automated fabrication and galvanization Steel Plant require the services of an experienced and articulate candidate as Import/Logistic Manager.
 Skills and Competence:
  • Bachelor’s degree  Business Administration or its equivalent in any discipline
  •  Minimum of 8 years experience in steel or related company
  • Proactive in problem solving
  • communicates clearly and effectively
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills
  • Ms word and excel skills
 
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintain proper interface with overseas/local supplies, Clearing Agents, Shipping Lines, Customer and Excise Department in order to facilitate quick delivery of materials to the factory
  • ensure efficient and effective processing and recording documentation
  • ensure all imported materials have goods-in-transit insurance (GTI) coverage from sources to factory
  • Continuous review distribution methods, service provider & operational costs to ensure material are transported at the most effective cost while maintaining efficient customer service
  • Evaluate and analyse current transportation operation and identify opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate logistics in optimizing  transportation and warehousing services for finished goods within all Nigeria business segments
  • Keep pace with industry trends and regulations in order to provide guidance to other personnel, when required
  • Track and follow shipment of goods until final destination
  • Ensure revenue and labour controls are adhered to for effective maximum profitability and efficiency
  • Maintain customer focus and expectations
  • understand and support full implementation of continuous improvement processes
  • Be involved in the specification, testing, implementation, trial and commissioning of company, such as SAP ERP, for efficient and effective execution of imports and logistics activities
  • Ensure employees adhere to and understand safety procedures and guidelines
  • Update and submit daily accurate and current report to management
  • anchor the development of the sales strategy and programmes to achieve the company's sales revenue
  • Participate in periodic sales planning and budgeting, monitor implement schemes to achieve sales targets
  • Generate and follow up on sales leads
  • Negotiate variations in price, delivery and product specifications with customers
  • Ensure ongoing collaboration with marketing and operations functions to determine effective pricing of products and services
  • set evaluation parameters to measure customer satisfaction
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, customer needs and competitor initiatives and devise strategies to optimally utilize market opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Marketing Officer
